The disproportionate number of African-American men in
basketball and football gives a false impression that they dominate the world
of professional sports. With a couple of exceptions (e.g., baseball and soccer
for Latino men), African American and other racial minorities are
underrepresented in most other sports. What reasons exist for the absence of racial
minorities in most sports other than basketball, football, baseball, and to
some extent soccer?
